VMCH Aged Care, Box Hill
Our proposed residential aged care development in Box Hill is situated on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation.
The development provides several different models of care with various types of accommodations and an integrated range of communal facilities to support the wellbeing of future residents. This includes a wellness hub, chapel, café and a series of quality work and amenity areas for staff.
Due to the undulating terrain sloping towards the site rear, the proposal is planned around the retention of existing established trees and embraces the site’s sloping levels. The height of the building works with the fall of the terrain, respecting the local scale of neighboring developments. Working closely with Openwork, the project seeks to use this cascading site to advantage and allows numerous opportunities for landscaping interventions and garden spaces throughout the internal and external programming.
The development has been designed to maximize daylight and views to the outside. Small residential clusters allow for short corridors and intimate common areas with access to winter gardens, sunrooms, and lounge areas which frame views outward. Glazing to an internal street and centralized core increase light to the semi-public area and louvred openings achieve high indoor air quality for the health and well-being of residents.
