12 Victoria Cres, Abbotsford
Situated on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, this new office building brings a sculptural piece of architecture to the transforming industrial part of Abbotsford. It celebrates and draws from its urban fabric, one steeped in production history.
The existing heritage façade is restored, acting as an entry to the new podium that houses the lobby, ground floor café and co-working space. A pocket park is carved out in the adjacent site, for use by the building’s occupants and the general public.
Above, the sculptural twin forms maximise north-eastern orientation, and provide sunlight to communal outdoor spaces. The angular forms are clad in steel truss-like frames, referencing the steelwork and sawtooth roofs of its immediate context, and the nearby Yarra Trail Bridge.
